Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation — also known as augmentation mammoplasty — is surgery to increase breast size. It involves placing breast implants under breast tissue or chest muscles. For some women, breast augmentation is a way to feel more confident. For others, it's part of rebuilding the breast for various conditions. If you're considering breast augmentation, talk to a plastic surgeon or The Look Clinic consultants. Together we'll go through the procedures, making sure you understand what surgery involves, including possible risks, complications and follow-up care.
Breast reduction surgery
Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure used to remove excess fat, tissue and skin from the breasts. If you have large breasts, you might choose to have breast reduction surgery to ease discomfort or to achieve a breast size proportionate to your body. Breast reduction surgery might also help improve your self-image and your ability to participate in physical activities. If you're considering breast reduction surgery, consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. It's important to understand what breast reduction surgery entails — including possible risks and complications — as well as set realistic expectations.
Breast lift
A breast lift — also known as mastopexy — is a surgical procedure performed by a plastic surgeon to change the shape of your breasts. During a breast lift, excess skin is removed and breast tissue is reshaped to raise the breasts. You might choose to have a breast lift if your breasts sag or your nipples point downward. A breast lift might also boost your self-image and self-confidence. A breast lift won't significantly change the size of your breasts. However, a breast lift can be done in combination with breast augmentation or breast reduction.
A tummy tuck — also known as abdominoplasty — is a cosmetic surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the abdomen. During a tummy tuck, excess skin and fat are removed from the abdomen. In most cases, the connective tissues in the abdomen are tightened with sutures as well. The remaining skin is then repositioned to create a more toned look. You might choose to have a tummy tuck if you have skin that's accumulated around the area of your bellybutton and a weak lower abdominal wall. A tummy tuck can also boost your body image.
Gender-affirming surgery encompasses procedures that alter your appearance to promote the matching of your body with your gender identity (gender congruence). Feminizing surgery includes many options, such as "top" surgery to increase the size of your breasts (breast augmentation) and "bottom" surgery to remove your testicles (orchiectomy) and create a vagina (vaginoplasty). You might also consider facial procedures or body-contouring procedures to create a more feminine appearance. Gender-affirming surgery, is often chosen as a step in the process of treating distress due to a difference between experienced or expressed gender and sex assigned at birth (gender dysphoria). Feminizing surgery isn't for all transgender women. These surgeries can be expensive, carry risks and complications, and involve follow-up medical care and procedures. Prior to some types of surgery, you might be required to obtain recommendations from mental health providers, live as a female and be on feminizing hormone therapy for a specific period of time. Certain surgeries will alter your fertility and your sexual sensations, in addition to how you feel about your body. Your doctor, as well as people who have had these surgeries, can help you weigh the risks and benefits.
Face- and neck lifting
A face-lift (rhytidectomy) is a cosmetic surgical procedure to create a younger appearance in your face. The procedure can reduce the sagging or folds of skin on the cheeks and jawline and other changes in the shape of your face that occur with age. During a face-lift, a flap of skin on each side of the face is pulled back, and tissues below the skin are surgically altered to return the contour of the face to a more youthful shape. Before the flap is sutured closed, excess skin is removed. A neck lift (platysmaplasty) is often done as part of a face-lift to reduce fat deposits and sagging skin on the neck. A face-lift won't decrease fine creases or wrinkles in your skin or damage from sun exposure. Other cosmetic procedures can address the appearance or quality of the skin itself.
Eyelid surgery
Eyelid surgery ie. blepharoplasty is a type of surgery that repairs droopy eyelids and may involve removing excess skin, muscle and fat. As you age, your eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them weaken. As a result, excess fat may gather above and below your eyelids, causing sagging eyebrows, droopy upper lids and bags under your eyes. Besides making you look older, severely sagging skin around your eyes can reduce your side vision (peripheral vision), especially the upper and outer parts of your field of vision. Blepharoplasty can reduce or eliminate these vision problems and make your eyes appear younger and more alert. To help decide if blepharoplasty is right for you, find out what you can realistically expect and explore the benefits and risks of blepharoplasty.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fat from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms or neck. Liposuction also shapes (contours) these areas. Other names for liposuction include lipoplasty and body contouring. Liposuction isn't typically considered an overall weight-loss method or a weight-loss alternative. If you're overweight, you're likely to lose more weight through diet and exercise or through bariatric procedures — such as gastric bypass surgery — than you would with liposuction. You might be a candidate for liposuction if you have too much body fat in specific spots but otherwise have a stable body weight.
Bariatric surgery
Gastric bypass and other weight-loss surgeries make changes to your digestive system to help you lose weight by limiting how much you can eat or by reducing the absorption of nutrients, or both. Gastric bypass and other weight-loss surgeries are done when diet and exercise haven't worked or when you have serious health problems because of your weight. Still, all forms of weight-loss surgery, including gastric bypass, are major procedures that can pose serious risks and side effects. Also, you must make permanent healthy changes to your diet and get regular exercise to help ensure the long-term success of bariatric surgery.
Gynecomastia is swelling of the breast tissue in males, caused by an imbalance of the hormones estrogen and testosterone. Gynecomastia can affect one or both breasts, sometimes unevenly. Newborns, boys going through puberty and older men may develop gynecomastia as a result of normal changes in hormone levels, though other causes also exist. Generally, gynecomastia isn't a serious problem, but it can be tough to cope with the condition. Men and boys with gynecomastia sometimes have pain in their breasts and may feel embarrassed. Gynecomastia may go away on its own. If it persists, medication or surgery may help.

Deep skin peel
If you have deeper facial wrinkles, skin that's damaged by the sun, scars, areas that appear blotchy or even pre-cancerous growths, deep facial chemical peels might be the right choice for you. Your provider will carefully determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment. A deep chemical peel usually involves some sort of pretreatment for up to eight weeks. This will prepare your skin for the peel and speed the healing process. Pretreatment may include use of a retinoic acid cream or gel – a prescription medication that's derived from vitamin A. This works to thin out the skin's surface layer, allowing the chemical solution to penetrate more evenly and deeply. PEELS WITH ALPHA HYDROXY ACID (AHA) Contain glycolic acid. Are considered superficial or medium peels (depending on the concentration, which can vary from 30% to 70%). Are perfect for improving skin texture. Boost collagen production. Help pigment spots and scars due to acne fade. The treatment must be repeated regularly for best results. Not a medical procedure, which means it does not fall under medical regulations and legislation. A dermatologist usually performs a peel with a higher concentration (more than 30%). Repeated treatments with peels with lower concentrations (between 20% and 30%) by beauticians and skin therapists are necessary to maintain results. Take note: after an AHA peel you must use a product with a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily (preferably with the active ingredients titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) to protect your skin optimally against the sun. After a peel, your skin is extremely sun-sensitive for several weeks. PEELS WITH SALICYLIC ACID (BHA) Less popular than AHA peels, but they can be just as effective. Same action as an AHA peel, but cause less irritation. Salicylic acid is closely related to acetyl salicylic acid (aspirin) and has the same anti-inflammatory properties. Irritations and inflammations are reduced to a minimum thanks to the anti-inflammatory effects of BHA. Lipid-soluble. An effective treatment for a skin that is prone to spots and blackheads. Also suitable for sensitive skin and skin that is prone to rosacea. Attention: Sometimes people with rosacea do not tolerate salicylic acid well.
Thread lift
A thread lift is a lifting with an immediate effect that improves the contours of the face and neck. It is a minimally invasive, surgical technique in which special soluble suspension wires are used to bring tissues in the face back to their original position. This is an ideal technique for: - younger patients who show the first signs of aging in the face as a result of sagging tissues; - patients who already have undergone a facelift and want to freshen up their face in a minimal invasive way; - patients who do not wish to undergo an extensive facelift procedure, but desire a less invasive surgery under local anesthesia. The major advantages of a thread lift are the minimally invasive nature of the procedure and the possibility to work with under local anaesthetic. Patients can go home the same day "= lunchtime procedure". Also the recovery phase is faster than with a classic facelift.
Treatment of expression wrinkles
Botox injections are the best known of a group of medications that use various forms of botulinum toxin to temporarily paralyze muscle activity. This toxin is produced by the microbe that causes botulism, a type of food poisoning. Botox injections are noted primarily for the ability to reduce the appearance of some facial wrinkles. They are also used to treat such problems as repetitive neck spasms (cervical dystonia), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), overactive bladder and lazy eye. Botox injections may also help prevent chronic migraines in some people. Botox was the first drug to use botulinum toxin. Other products now include Dysport, Myobloc and Xeomin. Each is a little different, particularly when it comes to dosage units, so they aren't interchangeable. The first signs of aging are often wrinkles around your eyes, forehead, cheeks, and lips. Wrinkles are a normal feature of the human face. But many people feel wrinkles make them look tired or older. Wrinkles in the forehead are significantly reduced after treatment, even when the patient contracts her facial muscles. To reduce the appearance of wrinkles, some people choose to have injections (shots) of botulinum toxin. These injections are often called by their brand names, such as Botox®, Dysport® or Xeomin®. The injections relax certain muscles in the face, and certain wrinkles become less noticeable for a period of time.
Micro-needle treatments
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that’s used to treat skin concerns via collagen production. Also known as collagen induction therapy, this treatment may help those looking to reduce the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks. It’s also used in certain anti-aging procedures, such as eyelid surgery and sun spots. Microneedling isn’t effective for hair loss, despite the possible role of collagen in hair growth. You may be an ideal candidate for this procedure if you’re in good health and have certain skin concerns that haven’t responded to home treatments or other types of dermatologic procedures, such as peels. This may also be a final step before considering cosmetic surgery for anti-aging and other concerns. Learn more about microneedling and talk to your dermatologist to see if this is the right option for your skin. In the Look Clinic we are combine our micro-needle therapy with high quality mesotherapy products.
